I love nature and the outdoors. I grew up on Vancouver Island and have been a life-long boater, exploring British Columbia’s beautiful coast and learning about the diversity of life it supports.
My professional life has also been focused on the ocean: after an early career in teaching I co-founded and, for more than 15 years, headed up a wonderful non-profit marine conservation group (Georgia Strait Alliance).
I’m a passionate gardener, growing as much of our own food as possible (organically, of course).
I’ve loved photography since my early 20s, when I bought my first SLR (a slightly used Canon Pellix). Many years later I’m still a Canon user, though my SLR is digital these days. I sometimes use a small waterproof Canon as well (when I’m in my kayak, or it’s raining).
Most of my photos are taken at or near our home on Gabriola Island, or from our boat or a kayak as we continue to explore the amazing BC coast.
